The question that keeps coming up: How can I be a Seventh-day Adventist if I question some official teachings of the church?
1. I understand Adventism enough to know the internal debates and where there is room for disagreement and opportunity for doctrinal growth.
2. I agree with the fundamental principles that define Adventism while acknowleging the need for reformation, revival, and a deeper understanding of traditional beliefs.
3. My goal is to help and not to hinder Adventism as a valid expression of the historic Christian faith consistent with basic principles of the protestant reformation in the 21st Century.
The 28 Fundamental Beliefs are a snap shot of the majority viewpoint at a particular time in Adventist history. But they were never meant to stifle independant thought, personal conviction, and a need for further study as a denomination.
