If a house was on fire, wouldn’t you call the fire department and then attempt to get everyone out of the house safely? What kind of a person would say, “it’s not my house and its not my business”?
Christians have a moral obligation to sound the alarm to a world that is perishing. If people are not right with God then they will be doomed for eternity. Many non-Christians may get irritated with the constant reminders of Jesus’s love, but at least they cannot say that they have not been given a chance to make things right with the creator. One day they will find out that Christians did not invent the revelations from God that have been passed down for over three thousand years starting with the Torah. Christians have been ordered by Christ to spread the word.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 20:19-20, KJV).
This does not mean that Christians have a right to bully or harass people who worship other Gods or have a different interpretation of the Bible. There is no need for violence, intimidation, irritation, or shunning people as a way to convert them to Christ. Jesus said we are to preach from our rooftops, but he also said that we are to love our enemies. God will not force anyone to listen to the truth, and only the spirit of love will bring the conviction that is needed for repentance and faith.
Let me tell you that Jesus was crucified because he wouldn’t be silenced. The disciples of Jesus were tortured, jailed, and killed. The early Christians had to endure horrific persecutions for hundreds of years. SILENCE IS NOT AN OPTION. However, the truth that we speak should be soaked in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
