I have spent the last 40 years of my life learning the Bible. My mother used to hold me in her lap and sing Bible songs when I was a baby. Today, I still love the word of God. If you want to know the truth about life, death, and eternal life then read the Holy Scriptures.
The Bible is your authority for all things spiritual.
If you are a new Christian and find it hard to understand the Bible then the first thing you must know is why it was written. The purpose of the Holy Scriptures–both Old and New Testaments–is to teach you how to get eternal life in heaven. Each individual book is designed to give you the factual history of God’s interaction with human beings. But the spiritual reality that ties it all together is the love of God for sinful people who trust in His mercy and justice for the forgiveness of sins.
1. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son” (John 3:16-18, NIV).
2. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
3. “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
Jesus offers you the gift of salvation that was paid for by His precious blood. Give your heart to Christ and claim the assurance of eternal life.
That is the primary message of God’s word.
