“Nothing can drown the soul’s desire. It rises above the din of the street, above the noise of machinery. It is God to whom we are speaking, and our prayer is heard.” — Ellen White, Prayer, p. 7
There is no time when it is inappropriate to pray. We can pray when we are driving, shopping, working, playing, or lounging about in our favorite chair with a good book. God is always listening and nothing can drown out the inward thoughts of our soul directed to God.
God is always watching us! God is always listening to us! In truth we are under constant surveillance by our Heavenly Father. Angels are also watching and listening to our conversations. A one word prayer to God for “help” can be more effective in solving a problem than if we were to rely on our human wisdom for results. God is more than ready to give us good gifts if we would simply acknowledge his presence and submit to His will.
There is no excuse that is more insulting to God than “I am too busy to pray.” First, we should prioritize our day by putting Him first. If we were to spend a few minutes per day asking for His guidance then our day might be more efficient and less hectic. Second, God is always ready to listen to our prayers even if we are in the middle of a meeting, fixing a machine, or doing housework. We can pray while running a vacuum cleaner, pounding a nail, or cutting the grass. There is never a time when God is not willing to hear our thoughts and prayers.
