What is the Gospel and How does it relate to Holy Living?
There is a lot of good news in the Bible but I am referring to the answer to the question:
How can I know I am saved?
“Place your simple faith and trust in Christ alone for the assurance of salvation.”
That is the best news of all!
Everything in the Bible is designed to lead us to that conclusion. Theology is important, but it is worth nothing without the Gospel of Grace through faith in Christ alone for the assurance of salvation.
Obedience to the Gospel requires us to perform the following steps:
- Lay aside self-righteousness.
- Give up false religion.
- Rest in Christ alone for the assurance of salvation.
- Show the same grace to others that God has given us.
Holy Living is important and requires effort on our part, but it is for our benefit and reward and not our salvation. We are saved by faith in Christ who forgives sin.
